Robots that vacuum and mop offer the convenience of removing dry debris (dust dirt) and wet mess (spills and stains) in one go without having to swap out devices. They also can save space compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will offer excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that have docks that let them automatically empty their bins, fill their water tanks and machine-wash the mopping pads.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It has plenty to offer at a low cost, and it's one of the most simple robots we've tested to set up. Unpacking is simple and the quick-start guide can get you running in no time. It comes with a full dust bag, water tank, and a hard floor solution.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. Its mops spin at high speeds and exert 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, making short work of pet hair, dirt and dried sticky spills. robot vacuum cleaners uk comes with four power settings, a range of attachments and brushes and an intuitive app that lets you choose the type of cleaning you want for each room.
You can, for example ask the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly but leave the bedroom to itself. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and its smart navigation technology are also excellent as the robot is capable of detecting tiny obstacles that other models struggle with. The only drawback is that the robot tends to crash into objects and walls at full speed. However, a quick look at the history of cleaning on the app will tell you exactly what the robot has completed, where it's moving, and what obstacles it has stumbled upon or avoided.
A handy LCD screen on the docking station shows you when maintenance tasks must be completed like emptying the debris tray, and rinsing its dirty water tank. It's also capable of mixing detergent automatically into the water tank by using a 600ml bottle filled with the eufy's solution.
Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum have a long run time. The mop is able to run for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode, and the vacuum can run for 136 minutes in normal mode, before having to recharge or returning to the base. And you can see the entire cleaning information in the app, which is clearly laid out and easy to understand although we would like to be able to differentiate between a vacuum and a vacuum/mop clean when looking at a cleaned area in the history of cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's most popular robot vacuum and mop is the newest version. The model this year has an agitator that doubles as its mopping pad. This improves the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has enhanced suction power, which allows it to remove fine hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners might overlook.
The Roborock model, just like the other two I tested it has infrared and a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it avoid obstacles such as furniture, walls, and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things one step further by having a dual camera that can detect objects and determine whether they're a wall or another surface. It then can automatically alter its path and clean around them without missing a beat.
This is the most expensive of the three models I've examined, but it's also the most loaded with features. Its sleek angular design is eye catching and only has three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which resumes the cleaning mop button, which doubles up as a child-lock and a home button to take the robot to its dock. The hinged lid can be lifted to reveal 350ml of dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank self-empties and the bin auto-refilling.
The only downside I found in this model was the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't removable. While you can swap out the mopping cloth (if it's required), it's a pain to remove the mount to wash it manually. I've noticed that any plush carpet that the robot passes will come into contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, which could cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a range of intelligent features, including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The Roborock app lets you manage and configure these smart features. It also has maps and advanced mopping options. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor the life of batteries and maintenance on components. However, you'll have to go through a few hoops in order to enable voice control with this model which is a pity considering how well it performs otherwise.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is a market leader with cutting-edge features, high suction power, and advanced mopping capabilities. Its intelligent design allows for personalized and efficient cleaning, while saving you time.
The X40 robot vacuum cleaner is the first to offer 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is one of the most powerful choices available. This powerful vacuum is able to clean up pet hair dust, crumbs and any other dry debris. It comes with a mop of high quality that cleans hard floors without the use of a pad. In addition the X40 is quiet in operation, only producing occasional bursts of noise when switching modes or completing self-maintenance tasks.
The X40 also has a side brush that is able to be extended and lifted. This lets it reach into corners that are hard to reach and clean furniture that is curved like table and chair legs. The robot is also able to reach under furniture with low profile which makes it a great option for apartments with small spaces or condos. The side brush also automatically swivels downwards when it detects wet spots, which is a nice feature that helps the X40 avoid damaging floors with the frequent back-and-forth movement.
Contrary to other robots which only focus on one task, the X40 can do both vacuuming and mopping at the same time or separately. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors and skip carpeted areas, or vice versa. It can be controlled using the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure smooth voice-controlled operation.
The app is simple and user-friendly and the X40's clever features are easy to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times. It is also possible to alter suction power, switch modes, look at maps and floor plans, and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also monitor its progress and inform you when it's finished.
The X40 is easy to maintain and has many features which make it a good choice for busy families. The docking station will automatically cleans the dustbin and the mop pads, then refill them with cleaning solution and fresh water. It also can detect the moment when the mop pad has reached its capacity to the max and notify you of the situation before it overflows.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available. It has several features that make it stand out. The mops come with a brand new feature called Smart DuoScrub that uses two high-speed mops to scrub floors more thoroughly than the traditional method, and it comes with an impressive suction power of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can remove pet hair and small dirt particles as well as picking up spills and wet spots.
The mop mops are cleaned and dried in the base station every time they are used. This is an excellent feature since it prevents the build-up of mould and unpleasant odours in storage, and also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a system we haven't yet seen on other robot vacuums and mop models, and it could be a great way of keeping your home hygienic for longer.
There are a lot of options, including the ability to schedule cleaning times and adjust preferences. These can be set via the app or buttons that can be found on the device itself. The app is easy to use and offers many options to customize the cleaning routine, and there are many functions that other robots don't have - such as the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power when it detects dust particles instead of relying on the manual setting.
The L20 Ultra is also one of the most stylish robots we've seen on market, sporting a white and metallic design that looks elegant and classy. It's a bit heavier at 4kg than some of the other robots on this listing but it's not too heavy. It feels solid and well-constructed. The mopping is also well-designed, and the double rotating mops work well on hard floors and in corners. They can also extend to 2mm of baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature, which is a nice feature.
